Hidden love is a Chinese drama that gained traction right at its' release and is still very popular to this day. This drama is an adaptation of the novel Hidden Love by Zhu Yai which has then gained lots of traction due to the release of the drama Hidden Love winning awards such as Outstanding TV Series/ Drama of the Year Cloud+ Awards ( Yunhe Data ).

In the end, Duan Jaixu accepts that Sang Zhi is no longer just a little sister but someone that he would love to be his partner.

This drama also shows how a little girl can transition into adulthood in a very realistic way which has captivated many hearts of viewers. From the way that Sang Zhi matures from a middle school girl to a heartwarming collage student. This drama perceives Sang Yan as a girl who no longer loves someone from afar but is making her own dreams a reality. The way that Sang Zhi makes her own path for herself but still cares about the other people in her life, resembles how an actual woman grows up and finds herself.

Duan Jiaxu's character has is less about growing up but tends to focus on accepting himself. His development is not as fast as Sang Zhi's but is more intentional. Moments where he find himself reflecting to past moments and slowly starts to rely on others when needed. It also shows him learning that love is does not mean losing independence but relying on other when you need help. In the drama, the development of Duan Jiaxu's character is less about major changes, but it shows how changes are not always visible to the eye.
